Cowichan Div. 3 soccer sides dominate as Selects and Cougars fall in close matches

Div. 3 sides dominate, Selects, O30 squads fall in close games.

Cowichan’s Div. 3 soccer teams were in top form this past week, with the Storm and U21 squads each earning convincing 4-0 victories. Meanwhile, the Div. 1 Selects and Over 30 Cougars both suffered narrow 1-0 losses at home.

Selects

Cowichan FC fell 1-0 to SFFC United in their home opener on Sept. 14 at Sherman Road Park. 

Cowichan FC visits Lakehill FC on Sept. 21 in Victoria.

Div. 3

The Cowichan Storm beat CFC Calypso 4-0 on the road on Sept. 12. Sarah Jones opened the scoring in the 15th minute. The Storm got a helpful own-goal from Calypso in the 60th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Goals from Kendra Gibson and Marissa Morris wrapped up the rout.

The Storm next play host to Lakehill at the Williams Field at Sherman Road Park on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Cowichan U21 side made it two wins in a row, beating Bays United 4-0 on Sept. 13 at the Sherman Park Road grass.

Sarah Irvine book-ended a brace with goals in the 21st and 76th minute while Shelbie Paddle and Paige Hart added goals in the 41st and 49th minutes respectively. 

Looking for their third in a row, the U21 team visits Gorge FC on Sept. 21 in Langford.

Over 30 'A'

The Cowichan Cougars fell 1-0 to the Prospect Lake Lakers Sept. 14 at the Sherman Park Road grass.

The Cougars visit Nanaimo United on Sept. 20 in Nanaimo.
