The Capitals played their first game against former Cap Frederic Deschenes and the Spruce Grove Saints in Chilliwack on Oct. 15.
The team saw five goals from five different scorers in a 5-2 victory over the team from Alberta.
Ryan Harvey started it all just 27 seconds into the game. Trace Frieden got the assist.
Next up, it was Adam Lang, nine minutes later. Assists went ot Gavin Nemis and Owen Fitzgerald.
Cowichan didn't slow down. Next up it was Kole Keen on the power play. Assists went to the league's second star of the week ending Oct. 12, Carter Dekay, and Massimo Fazio.
The Saints got one back late in the period but the Capitals had the 3-1 lead after one period of play.
Junsu Kwak scored the second period's lone goal to give Cowichan a 4-1 lead at the second intermission. Assists went to Nemis and Ryley Cyca.
The Caps kept the pedal to the metal and got their fifth and final goal of the night from the stick of Tait Donkin. Ryder Dembo and Tristan Gravenor earned helpers.
The Saints scored once more in the 5-2 loss. Cowichan out-shot Spruce Grove 40-20 over the course of the game and, all told, 13 different Capitals hit the score sheet with either a goal or an assist. Goaltender Rhett Stoesser stopped 18 of 20 shots in the win.
Harvey, Lang, and Nemis were the game's three stars, respectively.
On Oct. 16 in Abbotsford, Cowichan took the West Kelowna Warriors to overtime before losing 2-1.
"The game against West Kelowna was very tight and two really good teams at the top of the standings," Capitals head coach Cam Keith said.
Like the game before, Cowichan got the first goal, this one from Jack McAra. Dekay and Ryan Harvey earned assists on the play.
The Warriors scored not long thereafter and that was it for scoring during regulation play.
It took just 1:03 of overtime play for the game to be decided, however, as Kelowna got the game-winner.
The game's second star, Jack Hirshorn took the overtime loss in goal, despite stopping 24 of 26 shots.
"The boys played great," Keith said. "From a team standpoint, we took three out of four points."
Cowichan went on to play the Crankbrook Bucks at the Cowichan Valley Arena on Oct. 18 but the result was not available by the Citizen's deadline.
