U21 women win new Div. 3 Battle of Cowichan

The Div. 3 Cowichan Storm soccer team met the newly formed Div. 3 Cowichan U21 team to start the season on Sept. 6 at Williams Field at Sherman Road Park.

Despite the Storm's experience, all the goals were scored by the up-and-coming U21 team.

Paige Hart kicked it off in the 12th minute and Emily Bariluccl added to the lead in the 34th minute. 

The U21s went into halftime with a 2-0 lead and they added to that lead 11 minutes into the second half. Kendra Gibson got the team's third goal in the 56th minute and 20 minutes later the U21 side capped off their victory with a goal from Brooklyn Gray.

Ella Dupuy got the shutout in goal to earn the team's Queen of the Match title while Olivia Johnny earned the hard hat.

The U21 team next plays Bays United on Sept.13 at 6 p.m. at the Sherman Road Park grass while the Storm visit CFC Calypso on Sept. 12 at PISE.

Over 30 'A'

The Cowichan Cougars fell 4-0 to Gorge FC at Hampton Park on Sept. 5.

Keeper Kate Collins was the team's MVP of the game, keeping the score at 1-0 for the majority of the game. 

Up next, the Cougars play host to the Prospect Lake Lakers on Sept. 14 at the Sherman Road Park grass. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
