The Rotary Club of Chemainus presented a cheque for $1,571.86 to Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, July's community group benefiting from Rotary's recycling collection efforts.

The club holds a bottle drop-off in Chemainus every Saturday to raise funds for Rotary club projects. On the third Saturday of each month, Rotary partners with other community organizations to help run the bottle drop and a portion of funds raised then goes to the partnering community group.

Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue is a volunteer-based organization that provides marine search-and-rescue services and promotes boating safety along Canada’s West Coast. Funds raised from the bottle drive will support the group’s rescue and boating safety work

The bottle drop is located at the Chemainus Rotary Club’s bunker across from Subway on Chemainus Road and accepts refundable containers on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
