Canada should withdraw from NATO, an alliance which lost its raison d’être when the Warsaw Pact disbanded in 1991.
While membership in a military alliance may appear to offer security, it also runs the risk of drawing nations into conflicts they do not seek and cannot win; conflicts which, as in the case of a war between NATO and Russia, would constitute nothing less than a suicide pact.
The Ukraine war has exposed NATO as more bark than bite, even as its fearful imaginings, warmongering, reckless rhetoric and false flag operations risk precipitating a nuclear world war from which no victor can possibly emerge.
Better that Canada confront real threats; global heating which is reducing our forests to ash, the flow of illegal drugs and undocumented migrants across our borders, and the growing sense amongst many Canadians that our streets are no longer safe.
NATO belongs in the dustbin of history.
