Letter: Fall a time to watch out for falls

Gone are the sweltering hot days
letters

Fall: a word that can mean the season or the action, while to me there is definitely a connection between the two. Fall, when leaves are starting to turn colours and fall off the trees. Combine all these leaves on the sidewalks, paths and roads with the cold wetness we now enjoy, and one has to deal with a very slippery surface, causing many falls.

For those of us, less agile people, it's time to use a rollator or a tripod walking cane and for the community to start raking those leaves off the sidewalks.

Fall is also that time when we are not sure to dress in shorts and tees or bundle up in a winter coat. Most importantly, fall is the time to winterize your car, boat, RV, and the outside water taps, or change your tires if you're planning to travel over the Malahat.

Gone are the sweltering hot days, it's time to prepare for our winter, harvest our produce and process them, or at least make some fruit pies and stay safe.
