Words from the 8th century BC by the Greek author Hesiod. I quote:
"When people deal in justice straight and fair" and observe the law "their cities flourish the people bloom" — famine and folly pass the righteous by — "and the just feast on what well worked fields supply."
"It's working which endears you to the immortals" in contrast those who commit evil deeds are not just punished personally "often a whole city pays the price."
This is a quote obtained from a book in a library. Not being scholarly in any way, it reinforces for me the fact that knowledge and the ability to improve oneself is present and available to anyone choosing to do it, regardless of age, race, gender or social status. No one should feel ashamed to admit they don't know something; the shame lies in not at least trying to learn. Everyone has potential; no one should be denied the chance to improve him/herself and learn to use that potential.
It is also written "seek and you shall find". With some work, courage and perseverance one can not only improve their lot but can also be a catalyst for others in dealing with the "evils and injustices that exists in today's societies."
