The Kerry Park Islanders were bested by the league leading Westshore Wolves in one of just two games on the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League schedule Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Q Centre in Colwood.

The VIJHL's only other game Wednesday night was a 4-0 Pensinsula Panthers win over the Saanich Predators.

Still seeking their first win of the year, the Islanders were in tough against the Wolves, who boast a 9-2-1 record in 12 games early on in the season.

Out-shot 15-7 in the first period, Kerry Park conceded two goals to take a 2-0 deficit into the first intermission on goals from Kansys Seney and Kaden Ryan.

Ryan scored his second of the game for the Wolves within the first five minutes of the second stanza but Third Star Nate Grinevitch got one back for the Isles less than one minute later. Hudson Closson earned the assist.

Westshore's Parker Atkinson got the next goal to go up 4-1 but Grienevitch scored his second of the period and of the game to bring Kerry Park within two.

Atkinson's second of the game for the Wolves extended their lead to 5-2 at the second break.

Ryan scored his hat-trick goal midway through the third period to ice the game, handing the Islanders their 10th loss in as many games.

Goaltender Carter Puska took the loss, finishing the game with 42 saves.

Looking to bounce back, Kerry Park visited Oceanside Place to play the Generals on Oct. 11 and played host to the Victoria Cougars on Oct. 14 at Kerry Park Arena. Neither result was available before the Citizen's press deadline.
