The Rotary Club of Chemainus presented a cheque for $1,063.18 to Food First Chemainus, one of September's community groups benefiting from Rotary's recycling collection efforts.

The club holds a bottle drop-off in Chemainus every Saturday to raise funds for Rotary club projects. On the first and third Saturday of each month, partners with local organizations run the bottle drop and a portion of funds raised goes to the partnering community group.

Food First Chemainus is an inclusive, grassroots group working to build a community network for sharing space, knowledge, and the harvest of fresh, organic, locally grown food. The group aims to make healthy eating more accessible while supporting one another in the face of rising produce costs.

The bottle drop is located at the Chemainus Rotary Club’s bunker across from Subway on Chemainus Road and accepts refundable containers on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
