The Cowichan Storm beat Sooke 2-0 on Sept. 28 with a squad of only 10 after almost the whole team got hit with an illness.
"Everyone gave it their all on the field, we had each other's backs from start to finish, and I think the results speak for themselves," said defender Heather Morson. "Everyone should be very proud of the way they played."
Kelsey Thorne and Sarah Jones were the Storm's goal-scorers.
The team looked forward to their bye week rest before taking on Vic West on Oct. 18 in Victoria.
"I'm so very proud of this team making it through a rocky pre-season and being one of two Cowichan teams at the top of the table," said the Storm's Megan Branch.
The Storm sat second in the standings behind the Cowichan U21 side but have since dropped to third.
The U21s beat Mid Isle FC 3-2 on Sept. 27. Olivia Johnny scored Cowichan's first goal and Kendra Gibson scored their next two.
The squad then travelled to Juan de Fuca FC on Oct. 5 but the result was not posted by press time.
On Oct. 18, the U21s visit Peninsula for a 7 p.m. start.

The Cougars lost 6-0 to Castaways United on Sept. 26. They looked to rebound on Oct. 5 at home against Vic West. Team scoring leader Jenelle Leedam scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute but that was all the Cougars would muster as the team ultimately fell 6-1.
The Cougars meet Gorge FC on Oct. 19 at the Sherman Road turf for a 2 p.m. start.
