Someone tries out the misinformation quiz on the nine-foot cellphone outside Kelowna's downtown library as part of a campaign by the B.C.'s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner.

Staff from the office of B.C.'s Human Rights Commissioner are eager to show of its nine-foot cellphone.

The phone is part of a new campaign, 'Misinformation: Can you STOP it?'

In Kelowna this week, the campaign made its first stop at the downtown Kelowna library on Sept. 22. People were encouraged to step up to the phone and take a short quiz to test one's ability to spot misinformation.

Misinformation is the spreading of false or misleading information, while disinformation is the deliberate sharing of false claims with the intention of causing harm.

The campaign promotes the STOP method - share only when you're sure, track down the truth, outsmart the outrage, and poke at the point of view.

Find the nine-foot cellphone and take the quiz at Okanagan College's Centre for Learning atrium Sept. 23-24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at the downtown Kelowna library Sept. 25-26 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Learn more about the campaign or take the quiz online by visiting humanrightsbc.ca.
