Imagination takes centre stage as Victoria's Ultimate Hobby and Toy Fair returns to Saanich this weekend.
The bi-annual toy extravaganza draws toy and hobby lovers from all over B.C. in the hunt for new additions for their collections.
With more than 200 tables of toys, Pokemon, action figures, collectibles, vinyl records, models, diecast vehicles and more, the Ultimate Toy Fair has a variety of items perfect for serious collectors, and for those looking for something fun.
"This event really allows us to give back to the community and help raise money for local charities, which is really important to us. It's just such a great weekend and I love seeing what everyone is collecting. There is such a great variety, and really something for everyone." promoter and organizer Candice Woodward said.
There are local food vendors, balloon art, Victoria LEGO Users Group with their displays and door prizes every half hour. A community feature in Greater Victoria since 2007, the event happens twice a year and has raised $72,000 total for local charities. Folks can meet members of the 501st Outer Rim Garrison who will be raising money for Victoria Hospitals Foundation by donating to get your photo taken with Star Wars characters. The toy fair also raises money for BC Children's Hospital and the MS Society of B.C. with a silent auction.
Victoria's Ultimate Hobby and Toy Fair is Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pearkes Recreation Centre, 3100 Tillicum Rd.
General admission is $5 at the door and kids under 12 are free. Visit www.ultimatetoyfair.com for a list of vendors.
