The Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock team rides down First Avenue in Ladysmith on Saturday, Aug. 16, greeted by crowds attending the 21st annual Show ’n’ Shine. The traditional mock-tour stop gives riders a chance to connect with the community ahead of the official tour kickoff.

The Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock team rolled into Ladysmith on Saturday, Aug. 16, riding en masse down First Avenue to cheers from hundreds gathered for the 21st annual Show ’n’ Shine.

The early visit has become a tradition for Tour de Rock, with organizers calling it the first unofficial ride of the season and a key team-building moment. The enthusiastic reception from the classic car crowd also offers a morale boost before the riders officially begin their journey down Vancouver Island.

Riders took time to mingle with the public, take photos and accept donations in support of childhood cancer research and support programs.

The Tour de Rock team will return to Ladysmith on Monday, Sept. 29, for their official community stop.
