The suspect in multiple stabbings and assaults along the Vancouver seawall in Yaletown on Oct. 10 is facing one count of assault, police say.
The B.C. Prosecution Service approved one count of assault against 35-year-old Tamara Hamelin, according to a Vancouver police news release Tuesday (Oct. 14). She remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Vancouver police were called after reports of multiple people stabbed along the seawall near David Lam Park just after 7:30 a.m., according to the initial news release from police Friday. Police said the suspect fled the area before police were called and has not yet been found.
That first release said three victims were found and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two days later, when police released images of the suspect, police said four additional victims came forward: one who was stabbed, another who was physically assaulted and "two others who were not physically injured."
The victims were five men and two women, ranging in age from 23 to 59 years old.
