Step into the spectacle of 'Spectral Bodies Fragments from a Journey' a new exhibit of stellar pieces from Vancouver-based artist Justin Oglivie which will have its opening reception on Sept. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cowichan Public Art Gallery in Duncan.
This exhibition which was made possible by the generous support of Coastal Community Credit Union, will be on display until Nov. 15.
Ogilvie’s artistic career has developed in powerful stages that he refers to as his ‘Acts’. His early figurative work, 'Act One', blended realism with dreamlike restraint, while 'Act Two' saw a radical break into vivid colour and playful abstraction. In the third act, which is the focus of his new exhibition, Ogilvie fuses both worlds, uniting the human figure with dynamic forms, digital-era influences, and a daring emotional range.
