RCMP seeking truck driver after Pride-themed Courtenay crosswalk damaged

Comox Valley RCMP are trying to identify the driver of a truck that was involved in damaging the Pride-themed rainbow crosswalk in downtown Courtenay.

Comox Valley RCMP are trying to identify the driver of a truck that was involved in damaging the Pride-themed rainbow crosswalk in downtown Courtenay. 

The incident took place on Aug. 23 at around 6:20 p.m. Police have released a photo from a security video showing a pickup driving onto the crosswalk, causing visible damage. 

“Until we have had an opportunity to speak with the driver, we cannot speculate on the motivation behind this incident,” said Const. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “We are asking anyone with information to come forward so we can understand what took place.”

Investigators are seeking to identify and speak with the driver, the passenger, and anyone who may have witnessed the event or has information that could assist the investigation.
