Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton serves up musical treat this Halloween season

Kick off the month with tubular tunes of the '80s as the tribute band Freeze Frame plays the pub on Oct. 4

No tricks, only musical treats as the Osborne Bay Pub present a stellar October line up this Halloween season.

Go '80s or stay home as the Crofton pub brings back the sweet soundtrack to one of the most 'Pop' ular decades. Freeze Frame will be serving up high energy hits 'All Night Long,' on Oct. 4.

Lisa and Paul McLellan, Steve Hanson, Steve Moyer, and Dave Oxendale a.k.a. Freeze Frame play all your favourite '80s numbers and beyond starting at 8 p.m. Tune into this "totally tubular" awesomeness, dress for the times, and don't forget your dance shoes. Tickets are $20.

On Oct. 5 at 2 p.m., jazz up your Sunday with Ralph Barrett and the Tom Vickery Trio. After a long hiatus, Barrett returns to Sunday Jazz with his tribute to Frank Sinatra. While donning Frank's signature fedora, Barrett's smooth vocal style will take you back to the time of the Rat Pack. Tickets are $20 at door.

If you love the sound of Motown then there should be no 'Mountain High Enough' to keep you from getting to the Osborne Bay Pub on Oct. 11 to have your soul shaken by the sounds of The Soul Shakers who have a well earned the reputation of being one of the best dance bands on Vancouver Island.

Led by Joyce ‘the voice’ Allensen these musicians will not only be playing originals from their two independently released albums Love Is Love (2015) and Ready For You (2019), they will have you singing and dancing along to classic soul, Motown, R&B and blues tunes. Tickets are $20.

On Oct. 16, down by the bay, where the tourists like to go, you can hear some blues, from those you may not know, and if you go, you'll understand, what's all the rave about the "Boogie By The Bay Jam. Hosted by Grant Payne and the Thor Jonsson Band on the third Thursday of every month the pub is the place to be for great live jamming. Admission is $10 or free for jammers.

On Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. come and hear the music of Steely Dan with a twist as The Pretzel Logic Orchestra jazz up and rock out to the Steely Dan catalogue. The Pretzel Logic Orchestra, a combination of some of Victoria’s finest jazz players with a few funky rock players mixed in, consist of: Tom Bowler (guitar, vocals), Don McMeckan guitar, vocals), Toni Hammond (vocals), Charlie Fox (keys, vocals), Peter Dowse (bass), Joe Kovacs (drums, vocals), Bruce Hurn (trumpet), Doug Awai (sax) and Mark Wilson on the ol' trombone.

The nine piece band pays homage to Steely Dan with the chops it takes to interpret the complex and quirky material of the iconic '70s song writing partnership of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker and they take on some of the rock band's timeless songs of the era including; 'Black Cow', 'Peg', "Deacon Blues', 'Rikki', and 'Don't Lose that Number'. Tickets are $25.

On Oct. 25 at 8 p.m., Ladysmith's own Ryan McMahon will be bringing his full band to serve up good times and great music at the seaside pub.

After spending the last few years on tour with Canadian icons Tom Cochrane and Burton Cummings, McMahon is embarking on a solo western Canada tour with Osborne Pay Bub being one of its noteworthy stops. McMahon, who has earned the reputation as one of Canada's most prolific songwriters, will be turning up both the heat and the the amps as he and his band deliver the goods with an array of songs in a most up-tempo fashion. Tickets are $35.

Before your Halloween plans get into full swing, get into full 'Swing' with the Swiftsure Big Band, which has been entertaining audiences across Vancouver Island for more than 30 years. Taking the stage at 2 p.m., the band blends the sounds of the classic big band eras mixed with both Latin and modern swing tunes. Tickets for this swinging good time are $25.
