A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged “incursion” at the Edgewood ostrich farm that remains subject to a search warrant.

BC RCMP said the arrest was made on Friday, Oct. 17, after Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) agents were obstructed from performing their duties at the Universal Ostrich Farm property.

The man, who was later released on conditions not to attend the farm, allegedly breached the perimeter of the property, police said.

BC RCMP said its presence at the Edgewood farm remains ongoing, “at the request of the CFIA while their operation is underway.”

Similar arrests were made on Sept. 23, when the farm’s co-owner, Karen Espersen, and her daughter, Katie Pasitney, obstructed CFIA agents on scene.

Released later that day, both are now awaiting a decision from the Supreme Court of Canada after it was granted an interim stay of cull in September.

The ostriches have been at risk since December 2024, when CFIA officials declared an outbreak of avian influenza among the flock.

An investigation related to Friday’s arrest remains ongoing, police said.
