Municipal wages in every municipal government in B.C. are outrageous from a taxpayer point of view.
Ted Swabey, CAO of North Cowichan earns a yearly salary of $265,590 per year. Danielle Miles Wison, CAO of the CVRD earns a yearly salary of $222,174 per year.
B.C.'s premier, David Eby earns a yearly salary of $227,111 per year.
We can only blame the voting taxpayers for this out of control mess in the province.
Why? Taxpayers keep voting in the same council members election after election.
What has to be done province wide, is to vote out all municipal elected leaders out of office and vote in a new slate of council members.
The present elected members are two faced. When it comes to their personal bank accounts, they safeguard their money, but when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars, they spend the money like there is no tomorrow.
Employees earning these kind of wages should have their wages frozen until their retirement.
There is no justification to giving wage increases to these kind of wages already being paid.
If voting in a brand new slate of elected officials does not work then another option should be available.
That option is that the B.C. Municipal Affairs Ministry should oversee what these employees should be paid and to set up a consistency wage schedule that is province wide.
Every CAO in the province is earning a different wage. Totally unacceptable.
In summary fellow taxpayers, time to bite the bullet, and vote out all council members in the City of Duncan, North Cowichan, and CVRD in the next municipal election.
If not, stop complaining, but keep on writing those bogus property tax cheques each year.
Unbelievable!
