The current issue of the local paper the Cowichan Valley Citizen has an article in it about “Community Safety Expo”.
This makes my blood boil — whoever wrote this and arranged this article and expo has obviously never lived or travelled through in the Beverly Street/York Road/Lewis Street area!
For the past eight years I have lived on Lewis Street it has been a war zone with drug addicts and homeless people. Past councils put up fences to protect citizens who live here, only to have them taken down by North Cowichan Public Safety director who is soft on the homeless and cares nothing for the seniors and others living here. Police do nothing, bylaw does nothing!
Crime runs rampant because nothing is done. The law only applies to citizens, not street people. Millions in damage has been done and police and council do absolutely nothing.
Our building committee has had meeting after meeting with authorities to stop this and protect the vulnerable seniors, children, school kids and women living here.
Nothing has been done, and they now want an expo to celebrate and tell people what a good job they're doing?
Wake up North Cowichan council and police, we are not all deaf, dumb and blind. Shame on you. Quit blowing smoke at us!
