Just two days after it opened, a Langley Halloween attraction that billed itself as the largest haunt in Metro Vancouver has closed.
An online announcement posted by DreadWorlds shortly after the official opening on Wednesday, Oct. 1 gave few details.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances the event has been canceled until further notice. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience," the Oct. 3 post said.
"Refunds will be processed ASAP."
Tickets for Oct. 3, 4, and 5 have been "successfully refunded and processed" a follow-up post said.
"We are currently working towards a resolution and will announce reopening details and the resumption of ticket sales as soon as the information is available."
As of Tuesday, Oct. 7 no update had been posted.
Langley Advance Times has reached out to DreadWorlds for comment.
Spread across 14,000 square feet at 3987 232 St., the attraction aimed to present a 60-minute journey through immersive sets, midway games, and live performances.
Alexander J. Baxter, founder and CEO of DreadWorlds said "our goal is to create a haunted experience that’s immersive, terrifying, but also affordable.”
It was being run by Walnut Grove couple Adrian and Christine Holloway, who said they both grew up in what they call “haunt families,” where October meant turning the yard into elaborate walk-through attractions.
“When we got together, we turned her parents’ entire yard into a graveyard,” Adrian said. “We dug up the front yard, put graves in there, and we had people popping out of holes.”
They are "homegrown Langley people,” Adrian said.
DreadWorlds was to run till Nov. 1.
