Police have charged an individual with second-degree murder following an investigation into a "suspicious" death in Saanich.
At approximately 5 a.m. on Sept. 9, Saanich Police were called to a residence in the 4000 block of Hayden Court to conduct a wellness check. Upon arrival, they discovered the man dead.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) assumed control of the investigation due to the "suspicious" nature of the man's death.
A second adult male was taken into custody, and has since been charged with second degree murder.
"The victim and suspect were known to each other, and detectives have determined that there is no ongoing risk to the public," Saanich Police said in a news release. "The victim’s family has been notified of his death, and our condolences go out to them and his friends."
VIIMCU asks anyone with information to call 250-380-6211.
