Island couple launches product to help you keep track of your growing children

Kickstarter campaign for Measure Me runs until Oct. 9

A Colwood couple’s Kickstarter product aims to clean up slashes of pencil tracking kids’ growth on doorways and kitchen walls.

Traditional height charts get stuck to one wall, get left behind during moves, or end up covered in messy marks that eventually get painted over. Clunky wooden boards often don't fit modern spaces.

The wife and husband team of Nicole and John Hilhorst came up with Measure Me – a tape measure-inspired design that tracks child growth, is quick to use, easy to record and fits well on display or in a memory box.

"We created a cleaner, more flexible way to track growth that works for families who move, rent, or simply want to keep their walls clean," Nicole said in a news release.

With one end placed on the ground and a pull tab that extends to the child's height for marking, the system includes space for the child's name, birth date, birth weight, and birth height. It features metric and imperial markings side-by-side, measures up to seven feet, and locks in place during recording. The textured canvas has protective coating so marker ink stays clear without smudging or fading. The soft cotton canvas tape retracts gently without snap-back and comes in four styles.

The Kickstarter campaign for Measure Me runs until Oct. 9. Early bird backers get a discounted price of $42.
