Five people were arrested following a hot pursuit of a stolen pickup truck from Chilliwack, which involved a helicopter, K9 unit, and officers from multiple detachments.

The incident unfolded on Sept. 19 when Chilliwack RCMP received a report around 8:26 a.m. of a stolen 2025 Ford F-150 from a residence on Ledgestone Place in Chilliwack.

The truck was located through real-time tracking in Logan Lake, and was later seen travelling through multiple jurisdictions.

RCMP detachments in Logan Lake, Merritt, Hope, and Princeton joined forces as the vehicle moved rapidly along Highway 5 before heading eastbound on Highway 3, allegedly reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h and driving dangerously, RCMP stated in a press release on Sept. 26.

Air 1 was launched, and Police Dog Services were called to assist.

"Hope RCMP spotted the vehicle near Manning Park and Air 1 maintained visual contact as it headed toward Princeton. The pursuit concluded at a Canco gas station, where officers successfully contained the vehicle and arrested all five occupants."

The investigation remains ongoing, and Supt. Darren Pankratz, officer in charge of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment, praised the collaborative effort by the different detachments.

“This incident is a strong example of how co-ordinated policing across jurisdictions can lead to safe and effective outcomes,” he said. “Thanks to the timely and effective assistance by multiple RCMP detachments and specialized units, we were able to bring a high-risk and challenging situation to a safe conclusion.”
