Jennifer Jackson earned her first World Championship medal on Sept. 9, a bronze in the Women Elite XCC (short track) race at the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
"We raced in Zermatt, Switzerland, which is a beautiful but extremely inconvenient place to visit," Jackson joked following the event.
"The World Championships is a stand-alone event for us and the podium is everything so there could not have been a better time to finally crack the top three and earn a medal."
The 30-year-old Maple Bay resident was also a part of Team Canada for the relay event, which finished fourth, coming up just short in a sprint finish.
"I rode the fifth of sixth legs, and moved us from outside one minute to within eight seconds for our anchor leg," she said.
In her final event of the World Championships, the cross country Olympic race, she ran out of steam and the result was her worst placing of the year at 21st overall.
"It was still a career best World Championship XCO, but less than I know I’m capable of," she admitted.
"As much as the medal is proof of performance, and a breakthrough of my entire season, I take the most satisfaction and joy in the feeling of belonging — having a purpose and impact on the race around me," Jackson said.
"I’m not a huge dreamer, to be honest. To me it’s more about working on the dream, building myself up and believing I can do things better, to become better," she added. "This year has been a huge realization of this working belief."
Jackson said her results sheet is stacked with PRs that she would be incredibly proud of for a career let alone one season.
"That said, I still believe there’s so much more I can work on to improve my craft of bike racing and am looking forward to it all," she said.
There are still three rounds of World Cup racing left and the overall standings to race for. Those races are Sept. 21 at Lenzerheide, Switzerland, Oct. 5 at Lake Placid, USA, and Oct. 12 at at Mont Sainte Anne in Beaupré, Quebec.
"I’m currently ranked seventh and hope to stay inside the top 10 for the remainder of the season," she said.
