The Cowichan 49ers dominated at home in a 3-0 victory over the Nanaimo 'A' — the reigning Provincial B Cup champions — on Friday, Sept. 19.
Gary "Sharky" Anderson opened the scoring with a finish that set the tone for the rest of the match. Matt James added to the tally with a fiery strike of his own before Jake Byrne sealed the result with a well-earned goal.
Darian Achurch was solid in goal, recording a shutout to cap off the team's dominant performance. True to their mantra, the 49ers showed once again that they are built differently.
With momentum building, the red-hot 49ers now turn their attention to their fiercest rivals, Bays United. The two sides are set to clash on Sunday in Oak Bay in a matchup that always delivers intensity.
