Awaken your soul with the uplifting acoustic sounds of folk music as folk band the Awakeneers return to the Duncan Showroom on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
The nomadic tribe of multi-instrumentalist songwriters, most of whom are siblings, are fresh off a tour across 4,990 km of B.C. that took them as far north as the Peace Valley. One will feel at peace listening to the sounds of the Awakeneers as they blend of acoustic positivity that orbits elliptically around the idea of folk music, a press release for the show said. Through rich harmonies, and diverse acoustic instrumentation their songwriting shines a light on some of life's big questions as it celebrates the goodness of humanity, and the miracle of life on earth, the release said.
Many have been awakened to the multi-talents of the Cortes Island based folk band who have graced the Showroom stage in the past, and have been a huge hit at the 39 days of July festival in past years.
“Our concert at 39 Days of July was a great launch of our tour,” said Rose, one of the band’s six members. “It was a nice surprise when Longevity John invited us back to the Showroom by spontaneously announcing this concert from the stage after our set. It’s quite remarkable just how much music Longevity John, and Ted make possible in Duncan, between 39 Days and the Showroom they create opportunities for the community to hear hundreds of artists every year, and the fact that it is live-streamed is an amazing bonus.”
The time to hesitate is through, treat your self to some wholesome foot-tapping folk music that will leave music lovers feeling both uplifted and inspired. Tickets are $20 to $25 and can be purchased at www.showroomproductions.ca. To learn more about the Awakeneers visit www.awakeneers.com.
