The first week of October is the time for people looking for a little ghostly fun to get their hands on the often hard-to-get tickets to the annual Halloween Train.
FDC volunteers and staff are already working behind the scenes getting ready, building, and preparing to make this year the best Halloween Train event ever.
One of the B.C. Forest Discovery Centre's major yearly events, this year the Halloween Train will run for 11 nights this spooky season beginning Oct. 17 and running nightly until Oct. 21.
The train returns Oct. 24 and runs through Oct. 26 and then again Oct. 28 through Oct. 30 to accommodate even more patrons than before.
Doors to the event open at 3:30 p.m. and trains run every half hour from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
With the FDC closing following the last train, those on one of the later trains may wish to arrive an hour or so earlier to take in all the fun events around the grounds.
Activities each evening include crafts in the schoolhouse; train rides, trick-or-treat stations for the little ones, and live entertainment by Andy McCormack. Hot chocolate, coffee, and hot food are available to purchase and the fire pits will be lit.
Dressing up in your best costume is encouraged.
Be forewarned: "This is a family friendly event but it can be a little scary for very young children after dark and we suggest that you bring them early before the sun sets," organizers said.
